The Department of Chemistry was established in 2012 under the Faculty of Science and joined the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences in 2016. The department staff consists of 4 faculty members and 2 research assistants. The academic staff of the department teach under the Forensic Science Master's Program, Nanoscience and Nanoengineering Master's Program, and Nanoscience and Nanoengineering Ph.D. Program. The department works in cooperation with the graduates of Chemistry as well as with interdisciplinary graduate programs and engineering, pharmacy and medical faculties. The research areas are prioritized as the drug transport, enzyme kinetics, drug and small molecule-DNA interactions, nanoporous materials, magnetic nanoparticles and sensor development based on the expertise of the faculty members.
The Department of Chemistry provides the instruction of chemistry courses in the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Medicine within its educational activities. Our department aims to start undergraduate education in the near future.
